an inspiring quote

"A Return To Love: Reflections on the Principles of a Course in Miracles" by Marianne Williamson. (This was read by Akeelah from a plaque in Dr. Larabee's office in the movie "Akeelah and the Bee".) I found it an inspiring quote.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear
is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light, not our darkness,
that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I
to be brilliant, gorgeous,
talented and fabulous?
Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small doesn't serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.

We were born to make manifest
the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.
And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

default user icon - a poll

Sometimes I wonder if my default user icon is a little too scary or creepy. I'm a very calm, peaceful, friendly guy. It may be giving the wrong impression. It is artistic I think and serves well to show both me, and my artwork. What do you guys think? Should I make something less questionable towards my character, or stick with the current icon?

I need to find more LJ friends. 0 feedback for my last 3 posts. I do searches for users with interests every few days. Art, web-design, programming. Making more friends just requires frequent posts over a long time I guess.
Anyway, no need to reply to this really.

artwork!!!

More artwork! This stuff is more "real" material. Had to break out the digital camera to get it online. These are along a darker theme because of what I'm going through right now. I do make happier art ;)

myspace

I wish there was a way to interact between LJ users and MySpace users all from LJ. MySpace has horrible layouts, sideways scrolling (always bad) hard to read text colors on backgrounds, an all-around bad user-interface, and a large number of random posting errors. It just sucks.
On the other-side, EVERYONE and their brother has a MySpace. Nobody I know in person has an LJ.
I just wish I could keep my LJ, but have the posts go to MySpace users and allow them to comment back to LJ without an LJ account. Wishful thinking.

#Jobs

I have 3 possible jobs to apply for now. ID Software, Gearbox Software, and a graphics company of mystical where-a-bouts. I have no idea how I am going to get to and from any of these jobs, but if I can make it for 2 paychecks I can buy a clunker to get around in. I may wind up living at the job durring that time, or at a nearby 24 hour dinner or something. maybe friends and/or family will help with transportation, but that's not looking to promising so far.

The Universe

I get emails a few times a week from "the universe". Some of them are kind of cheesy, some of them are pretty cool.

This is one I got today:

Would you believe, glen, that there is nothing about your life today, not even what hurts, that you won't eventually appreciate, with happy tears running down your face?

Nothing.

Chokes me up just thinking about it -
The Universe

If you want to hear from the universe you can sign up at www.tut.com

Here are a few pictures until I can get more up.

violin/piano/roses. I drew this in Creata Color pencils (my favorite brand.) Prisma is a close second. Done in 2003 just as a personal challenge. The original was given to my grandparents. The subject matter came from a photograph I saw online.

A drawing of a microphone done for a friend who later ask me to make a digital version for his business cards and website.

The finished digital version (this is not a photo)

A bigger version of this was chopped up into frames and used as the website at www.OMEFilms.com
This was all made in Paint Shot Pro. I also use Photoshop, and Corel Painter, but there's a big change of style for each.

The background for the above site came from this photo, with a little editing done.

More later. I have totally different genres of art to show when I have time :)

possible job

I have a possible job opportunity programming robots. One of the elders at a church I've started going to is also one of the founders of a robots company that needs programmers. I just found out from the pastor, but haven't spoken the the guy in charge yet. I'll have a chance tomorrow night at a casual get-together at the church.

I've been going to college for 5 years to be a programmer. I've taken 20 computer classes, including Visual Basic, C++, Java, Web-Design, Database, Networking, Operating Systems, on and on. I love programming, so I hope this works out.

I am currently unemployed. I could not afford my tuition for this semester either, so I'm not really doing anything right now. I need a job badly. I just hope I can get one in my field of study or somewhere close. Working in fast-food/retail with 5 years of college sucks.

about OME Films

My closest friends all hang out at Denny's (a 24/7 diner) almost every night. I've been going there for a little over a year on a daily bases. We've all gotten pretty close now. We usually play cards, dice, dominos, phase 10, etc. On Wednesday we go to movies when we can afford it. If David is there we'll go across the street to a bowling alley/pool hall and shoot pool. Every other week we have a Texas Hold-em tournament at someones house with a $10-20 buy-in. On special occasions we'll head out to a club or bar and sometimes do Karaoke.

Some of the guys here are making a movie Called Eternal Torment. It's a low budget independent film that needs all the help it can get, so I'm pitching in how I can. They have a 400 page movie script that I'm still reading. I'm making their website (www.omefilms.com). That is coming along very well so far. I love web-design. I'm also in charge of video-editing and sound-editing of the movie.

We shot a scene that takes place in a diner the other day. It will have to be re-done, but it was good practice for everyone. We had 4 cameras- 2 on tripods and 2 handheld. no boom for audio unfortunately. lighting was ok. most of the actors could not memorize all their lines and had to hide scripts in menus and such. Which turned out very obvious on film. Especially looking down to read between lines. Good practice non-the-less.

Now I have to piece the best camera angle and take for each line spoken together in a smooth flow. An 8 minute scene total; 4 hours of film shot. 50 takes. I'm not really looking forward to weeding through it all to find the best footage, but I'll get it done so the guys can see what needs the most work. I'm kind of proud to be able to do this for them since most of them aren't too technical.

layout vs meaningful entry round one.

I wanted a place to vent about things, where people could give feedback, but having to start all over looking for friends before anyone knows it's here is kind of depressing. The look and feel of the journal wasn't very inspiring either. So, rather than writing what I wanted to get off my chest tonight, I worked on the layout and colors. I'm much happier with this, but I'll probably tweak it more later. Anyway, I lost the urge to write seriously for tonight, so I'll just leave it as this. At least I have a comfortable place to come back to and write the next time I feel like it. Hopefully soon.

a new start

I made this journal as a new start from my old journal. I think it's time to break away from all the old ties to my wife and her friends. That's what 90% of them were. I never took the time to look for friends with my interests there anyway. Most importantly, I couldn't really open up and show who I am there. So this will be a little more anonymous, but a lot more open. Only artwork and misc posts will be public. Personal things will be friends only. I'm hoping to make a lot of friends on LJ I don't already know. Anyone can ask to be added.
