7th-Aug-2008 09:04 am - Weekly Icon Trade PSA
Ok, the rush is over... back to your regularly scheduled icon trade. Keep your eyes peeled on Saturday morning for more art/trade slots!
7th-Aug-2008 04:48 pm - It's hot...
... in here, but outside, too. Because of the hot weather I didn't worked very much
on the computer. Instead I sat down in a cooler place and read a little. They have
predicted some thunderstorms and a weather change for tonight, to a bit more
cool temperatures.
Have all a nice Thursday

6th-Aug-2008 06:35 pm - where are they now?
I've been thinking about this a lot today...

"what do famous people do when they aren't famous anymore?"

I assume they just get regular jobs like you and me? Then I thought, well that must mean someone somewhere works with them and someone, somewhere is their boss. For example, I know that Geoffrey from Rainbow ended up working as a shelf stacker at Sainsbury's and as taxi driver to make ends meet. Just imagine being that kid that used to watch Rainbow, you grow up to become manager of your local Sainsbury's, and now Geoffrey works for you!
And what about all those Brit Pop bands that I remember? Echobelly, Sleeper, These Animal Men, Gene, Powder, Elastica. What are any of those bands doing now? I heard that Johnny from Menswe@r now works at a vodafone call centre!?

Is there anyone out there who works or knows someone who works with someone who used to be famous?
6th-Aug-2008 06:55 pm - I had,..
... a pretty uneventful day. I was working a bit on the computer and performed some
room cleaning. The weather turned warm and sunny again. So that I made myself
this afternoon a nice mug of ice-coffee(that's a cold, lightly sweetened, black coffee
with a few balls of vanilla ice-cream on it,.. very yummy. ^_^ ).
Have all a nice Wednesday afternoon/evening :-)

6th-Aug-2008 03:40 pm - CTP Insurance
Quick a couple of questions.

If you have a car, who do you have your CTP insurance through?

Would you recommend them?

Registration of my car should happen on Friday so any halp?

Thinking of going with RACQ but I haven't decided yet.

Price comparison is as follows for 6 months:

CTP insurer name CTP insurance premium
QBE 145.90
RACQ 151.00
AAMI 151.00
ALLIANZ 149.50
NRMA 145.90
SUNCORP 151.00

Keeping in mind I'm an RACQ member and CTP gets me $10 off membership.

The Columbus zoo is really freakin' awesome.

I'll post about the funeral, road trip, etc. when I get the pictures on my computer.

Also, when I feel like it. I picked up hours at Middleburg Heights tomorrow and my client is... MIA? Or showing up tomorrow at 5:00. One of the two.

Work rush: Busy, but fun. Hopefully the executive art director likes what I did (he seems to have liked what I've done so far)... finished the last two paintings up last night. *crosses fingers* Watch this space!

A big THANK YOU to everyone who voted in that poll I posted a while back--I am in the process of creating a book and will be having a plush critter made to accompany it, hopefully by March or April of next year. Am also looking into getting tee shirts & stickers made too, which will 'arrive' much sooner! I will keep this journal updated. :)

I need to CRANK on my personal stuff this week, I feel like I've fallen behind. ^_^;
5th-Aug-2008 03:56 pm - This forenoon,..
... I went mushroom collecting, but I was unfortunated, because the forest seemed
to be brushed empty. The few mushrooms I saw indicated to me that it will take
at least two weeks till the next "wave" or mushroom growth will happening in my region.
At least I had that way a nice walk in the woods.
Later I had a phonecall with the studio and we decided that I will head next week back
to work, because then I could combine the final editing of the 3D rendering with
some other jobs who will appear next week. This will also save me some travelling cost.
There is no real urge behind the current project, so I can wait till next week to finish it.
Oh, before I forget it:..
...
Happy Birthday
Artem

Have all a nice Tuesday :-)

4th-Aug-2008 04:20 pm - About the Olympics...
... It's in some way scary and at the same time funny to watch how the Chinese regime
is attempting to create spotless clean, perfectly organized and absolutely controlled
olympic games.
What means: From draining the regions around Bejing from important drinking water
for pretty water fountains in Bejing, over controlling the weather, trying to clean
the hopeless polluted air, teaching their citizens to behave civilized after western
standarts(and to not to sip, burp or fart at the dinner table) or to wait patiently in a line
(instead of everyone trying to be the first, who's entering the bus) till to remove all
the regime critics or poor people from the view of the world media.
The whole olympic idea got perverted by the IOC with promising the world that
the journalists would be able to report freely and uncensored from the olympic games.
But now confronted with the chinese reality, the IOC is claiming this was never an issue
for giving the olympic games to China.
The IOC and the people of the world were hopelessly naive to believe that all that glamour,
the new built skyscrapers and the growing business would be also mean more freedom.
Or that giving the olympic games to China, would automatically mean they would be
converted that way into a free democratic country, who takes care about human rights.
It's still the same ol' ugly pseudo-communist regime,.. just in a shiny new clothing.
Have all a nice Monday :-)

3rd-Aug-2008 06:56 pm - the 24-hour vacation
Soooo I'm sitting in a Days Inn in Delaware, Ohio.

24-hour vacation time! Paid waaaaaay too much money for this room, but it's got a microwave and a fridge and a bunch of stuff that I will not use in the fifteen or so hours I will spend in it.

Tris is currently learning how to work the TV.

We went to Xenia on Friday night, attended my grandfather's funeral yesterday, and today we drove south to Peebels and saw Serpent Mound. It is a LOT more impressive in the Ohio history textbooks than it is in real life, but its still really neat.

We saw Seip Mound as well, and I backed my car into a post. The posts in the parking lot are about two feet high and I couldn't see them in my rearview... but my car is fine. It survived just as well as it did with the Jeep encounter. :)

So now we're in Delaware, and tomorrow we're going to the Olentangy Caverns and the Columbus Zoo.

Yay!
3rd-Aug-2008 01:25 pm - Of web viral series...
... Yesterday, I was surfing around the web, and wanted to look something up via
YouTube(it's actually a good tool to "testdrive" the music of an unknown band you've
heard about somewhere, and so on). So while I looked around YouTube I ran into
this: http://www.youtube.com/user/2009atruestory It's a series of videos, similar
like a TV series, only with shorter shows in the stile of Cloverfield. Basically it's
the story of a girl in California and her brother who is in the military, who get pulled
into the happenings after an attack on the USA. After this attack the government
runs rampant and is turning into some kind of military regime. The series was just
finished, so that you could watch the whole story following the link above.
In some way, such web virals or web exclusive shows show how the future of
TV could look like. What means no TV at all, except special theme- and news channels.
Have all a nice Sunday :-)
